EMAIL SETUP FOR ANDROID

ADD YOUR @SOUTHERN.EDU EMAIL TO AN ANDROID PHONE

Southern Adventist University email accounts use Microsoft Exchange Online (Microsoft 365). On Android, we recommend using the Microsoft Outlook app. The Gmail app is also available if you prefer Google’s mail app. Microsoft and Google both support adding Microsoft 365 / Exchange work or school accounts directly on Android.

RECOMMENDED: MICROSOFT OUTLOOK FOR ANDROID

  1. Open the Google Play Store and install Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Open Outlook.
  3. Tap Add Account or Get Started.
  4. Enter your full Southern email address, for example username@southern.edu.
  5. Follow the Microsoft sign-in prompts.
  6. Sign in with your Southern account password.
  7. Complete Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) if prompted.
  8. Accept any permission or security prompts required for your account.

GMAIL APP ON ANDROID

  1. Open the Gmail app.
  2. Tap your profile picture in the top right.
  3. Tap Add another account.
  4. Choose Exchange and Office 365.
  5. Enter your full Southern email address, then tap Next.
  6. Choose Sign In if prompted.
  7. Sign in with your Southern account password.
  8. Complete Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) if prompted.
  9. Accept any permission or security prompts required for your account.

NEED HELP?

If setup fails:

  • Make sure your Android phone is connected to the internet
  • Double-check your full @southern.edu email address
  • Make sure you can sign in to your Southern Microsoft 365 account in a web browser
  • Complete any MFA prompt on your phone or authentication app
  • Remove the account and add it again if needed
  • If Gmail asks for a server name during setup, enter outlook.office365.com.
