McKee Library is also committed to serving the research needs of the general public and other affiliated McKee Library community users.
Access
- All library patrons can access our databases using one of the workstations in the library or through a laptop or handheld device connected to Southern's Wi-Fi network. Off-campus access is limited to current students, faculty, and staff of Southern Adventist University, as stipulated in our database license agreements and copyright laws.
- Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials and should not share them with unauthorized individuals.
Acceptable Use
- Databases provided by McKee Library are for noncommercial, educational, or personal research purposes only. Commercial use of licensed materials is strictly prohibited. Violating this prohibition can result in losing access for the entire campus.
- Systematic downloading of licensed content (i.e., downloading entire issues of electronic journals and large-scale downloading from databases to create other collections of data) is not allowed.
- Compiling data/information found in a licensed resource into a separate database for public use is not allowed.
- Distributing copies of material to individuals or groups outside the campus community is prohibited unless the license for the resource specifically allows it.
- Users must properly cite database content.
- When sharing a database article with students, faculty must use a permalink to the article rather than downloading and posting it on another server, even in course-related websites or course reserves systems.
- Faculty members planning a project that requires data-mining or auto-crawling a library database must contact Donald Martin to obtain permission from the database before starting such activity.
