Peer Buddy

Description/Duties: You will serve as a peer buddy to my 25 y/o son with Down syndrome.
He is interested in going out into the community at least once/week taking part in a number of activities that he enjoys.
Example-kayaking, basketball, indoor jump park, eating out, mini golf, ax throwing, and other things.
His current buddy is graduating from Southern and relocating so we need to find someone else who can take his place. George does not require any hands on care. He is independent in taking care of his own hygiene. He will need assistance in using his debit card.

Qualifications: A Christian young man who will serve as not only a buddy but somewhat of a mentor as well.
You will need to pass a background check and have reliable transportation with a clean record.
I am looking for someone who is truly interested in getting to know him and has a desire to learn about how to support someone with an intellectual and developmental disability.

Hours: Flexible. I will work with your school schedule. Typically when he goes out with his current buddy they are out between 4-6 hours at a time depending on what they are doing.

Pay Rate: $25/hour plus cover your fees for any activity in the community that has a cost associated with it including meals.

Forest School Teacher
