Portfolio

Faith at Work: Woodstock, Ontario

The North American Division of SDA commissioned a docu-series to highlight the human impact of their Pentecost 2025 gospel proclamation initiative. We told the story of how an unknown local church built bridges in their community... by planting a garden. We also designed graphics for the series.

Southern Adventist University Anthem

This narrative TV spot follows one student's life-changing journey at Southern — showcasing the school's campus, culture, and long-running legacy of missional education.

ACE Academy Anthem

ACE Academy needed a brand video that could speak directly to the pressures K-12 leaders face and remind them they're not alone. We crafted their first-ever brand piece — a message of solidarity and support built to resonate with educational leaders across the Adventist school system.

EdTalks Event Trailer

ACE Academy was organizing a TED Talk-style event at an conference for educators, and they wanted to position themselves as a fresh, future-focused voice in the education space. We created a bold, energizing event promo to match.

My Southern Story: Trevor Cain

We partnered with Southern's marketing team to highlight student stories across a variety of academic departments on campus.

U3: Uncertainty of Making a Feature Film

Produced in partnership with the North American Division of SDA, U3 provides an exclusive behind-the-scenes look into the production of Southern Adventist University's third majority-student feature film project, "All the Wrong Ingredients," produced during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Giving Day Promo

Southern's annual Giving Day fundraiser needed a video that showed donors the real-world impact of their gifts. We built a lighthearted narrative piece that drove engagement on the day it mattered most.

Why work with us?

  • You're a forward-thinking leader who values high-craft, audience-focused visual storytelling.
  • You want a creative partner to help you rethink how to represent your organization visually.
  • You're covering too much with too few people and lack dedicated video production or design capacity.
  • You've got a product, campaign, or initiative to highlight.
  • You want to invest in the next generation of creatives without forfeiting strong creative direction and a reliable process.

Our Process

Although the particulars vary across projects, we employ the same basic, proven process across all our work.

We start with a conversation. In a brief, no-cost discovery meeting, we discuss what you're trying to accomplish, why now, who needs to see this, who the stakeholders are, and whether it makes sense for us to work together. If so, we'll suggest next steps and craft a proposal.

After signing a formal agreement, we enter the creative development process. Depending on the project, this can mean a script or interview plan for a film, storyboards for an animation, or audience research and early concepts for a design project.

Once the plan has been approved by all parties, our hybrid professional-student teams bring your approved script, storyboards, or design concepts to life using industry-leading equipment and software. On film shoots, we handle scheduling, locations, production paperwork, and all other logistics.

You'll review project progress and provide feedback and approval at scheduled checkpoints, whether that means cuts of a film or animation or drafts of a design. We review every version before you see it and incorporate your feedback into subsequent versions.

We'll send you final files in the formats you need, ready for distribution. Afterward, we'll meet briefly to review what worked and what we can do better next time.

FAQs

How does your process differ from project to project?
The specifics of our process differ between disciplines (film, animation, design) and even within them. For example, developing and producing an unscripted documentary entails a different process from that of a scripted promotional or brand film.

That said, almost everything we create contains and builds upon the general process outlined above. If you have any questions regarding our processes for specific project types, please contact us.
How do you price projects?
The nature of our work is highly bespoke, so we don't provide standardized pricing up front. Usually, we'll conduct a free discovery meeting first and then provide a proposal with a few clearly-defined pricing tiers shortly afterward. If our estimates aren't a good fit for your current needs, we'll do our best to refer you to a better-fit solution.
How long do projects usually take to complete?
The answer differs greatly depending on the nature, scope, and complexity of the project. Many of our team members are also full-time students, so we usually work best when given at least 3-4 months of lead time to complete a project. The minimum timeline may be longer for larger or more complex projects.

That said, we're sometimes able to accommodate rush jobs, especially during summer break. If you have any questions regarding timeline feasibility for your specific project, please reach out to us.
Are you available on evenings and weekends?
As part of our Seventh-day Adventist faith, we observe a 24-hour day of rest from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. Outside that, we're generally flexible to schedule production on evenings and weekends as needed.
Can I just hire a student?
We are occasionally able to recommend students to work directly with clients as solo freelancers. We also teach a documentary class and a motion design class that periodically take on pro bono work as a service learning opportunity for students.

However, both these arrangements are highly dependent on specific circumstances, and most clients have found that the professional creative direction and quality control our agency provides is a worthy investment.
Where can I ask additional questions?
We'd love to hear from you. Please contact Michael Moyer at (423) 236-2094 or email svadproductions@southern.edu with additional questions.
