Artist's Statement
God speaks. All of nature obeys. The sun shines, the trees grow, rain waters the earth, at a simple word of His command, the planet spins in perfect motion.
There is one creature among all of His earthly creation that obstinately defies Him. Mankind. But God seeks to bring us back into reconciliation with Him. "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17). This promise is life. The creation week is a metaphor of redemption, a promise for the recreation of my own heart. It also points to a promise in the future, when Jesus will recreate the earth in pure, sinless beauty. "And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new" (Revelation 21:5).
My paintings are an attempt to communicate the infinite love that God has for us. I hope to accomplish this by depicting the seven days of creation in a creative, colorful, expressive, and energetic way, and thus present viewers with a symbol of redemption and hope for eternal life.
