Independent Colleges Associations
  • The National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU) is the national voice of private colleges and universities on policy issues with the federal government, such as those affecting student aid, taxation, and government regulation.
  • The Tennessee Independent Colleges and Universities Association (TICUA) engages Tennessee’s private colleges and universities to work collaboratively in areas of public policy, cost containment, and professional development to better serve the state and its citizens.
  • The Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) is not a lobbying organization, but rather focuses on providing services to campus leaders as well as seminars, workshops, and programs that assist institutions in improving educational programs, administrative and financial performance, and institutional visibility.
Higher Education Resources
  • The American Council on Education (ACE) is the major coordinating body for all of the nation's higher education institutions. It seeks to provide leadership and a unifying voice on higher education issues and to influence public policy through advocacy, research, and program initiatives.
  • The National Center for Public Policy and Higher Educationpromotes public policies that enhance Americans' opportunities to pursue and achieve high-quality education and training beyond high school.
  • The National Center for Higher Education Management Systems (NCHEMS) is a private nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve strategic decision making in higher education for states and institutions in the United States and abroad.
  • The Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) is a network of professionals dedicated to excellence in planning for higher education.
  • APPA promotes excellence in all phases of educational facilities management, including administration, planning, design, construction, energy/utilities, maintenance, and operations.
  • The American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) analyzes public policy to advocate for member institutions of public higher education and the students they serve. It provides policy leadership and program support to strengthen academic quality, promote access and inclusion, and facilitate educational innovation.
  • The Council for Opportunity in Education (COE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to furthering the expansion of educational opportunities throughout the United States. Through its numerous membership services, the council works in conjunction with colleges, universities, and agencies that host TRIO (http://www.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ope/trio/index.html) programs to specifically help low-income students enter college and graduate.
  • The National Center for Academic Transformation (NCAT) is an independent non profit organization dedicated to the effective use of information technology to improve student learning outcomes and reduce the cost of higher education.
  • The Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that helps government and education leaders in its 16 member states work together to advance education and improve the social and economic life of the region.
  • Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) was created to facilitate resource sharing among the higher education systems of the West.
  • The Policy Center on the First Year of College is dedicated to the improvement of the beginning college experience through enhanced learning, success, and retention of new students.
