Pierson Institute of Evangelism
The Pierson Institute of Evangelism and World Missions is named after Robert H. Pierson, former president of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, and passionate missionary and evangelist. The Pierson Institute operates the Evangelistic Resource Center (ERC) and is part of the School of Religion at Southern Adventist University. Every year, the institute sends over one hundred students on evangelistic mission trips through ERC Missions, trains hundreds more through the SALT (Soul-winning And Leadership Training) Program and conducts vital research projects. The institute is largely funded by donors, who make our mission of discipleship and evangelism possible. The institute has partnerships with It Is Written, the Voice of Prophecy, the North American Division, the Southern Union, and a number of Conferences. Every year, we see God’s hand at work, as hundreds to thousands of people around the globe make decisions for Christ and are baptized.
What We Do
The ERC is "mission control" for evangelism in the School of Religion. We train, mentor, and equip students, faculty, staff and community members for public evangelism abroad through our ERC Missions program and public evangelism in the U.S. through SALT (Soul-winning And Leadership Training).
